How exciting is your life?

Is your life exciting?  Before you answer there's a few things we should take into account firstly we have to define exciting and secondly we have to define what exactly your life is - not in the philosophical sense but if you are that way inclined this post might still be interesting and thought provoking.

In a few weeks I will turn 23 and a few things have to be taken into account.  Mainly to do with numbers.  Firstly, on average you sleep 8 hours a day.  In a 24 hour period this amounts to 1/3 of your time.  I personally would sleep closer to 12 as my sleep patterns are quite irregular [cover the reasons for that in another post, it's medical related].  So I spend around 1/2 my time sleeping.  So at 23 years old I will have slept 11.5 years of my life.  That leaves me with 11.5 years left so far.

I went to school from the age of 5 up until age 18 [Primary, High School, College] and then to University until 21.  At 9am to 3pm for 16 years, given that 200 days of the year are school days, at 6 hours a day in school plus 1 hour travel time either side makes 8 hours a day in school, makes 1,066 full 24 hour days spent in schools.  That's a little under 3 years [2.92] but we'll round up for simplicity.  So my 11.5 reduces to 8.5 years.

My earliest memory is at 3 years of age when my brother started school.  Given that we have already said I spend 1/2 my time sleeping, since I wouldn't count the time before 3 years old as I can't remember it then we can take those years out.  1.5 are already accounted for with sleep so we can write off the other 1.5 and this saves us working out baby sleep etc as different.  So we are left with 7 years of living achieved.

It's quite depressing to think that I have only lived 7 years of my life so far.  The furthest I have been outside the UK is to Paris.  Inside the UK I have been around Ireland and I have lived in London for 3 years.  I don't know if I have ever been in Love but I have felt like it a few times.  I have been heartbroken.  I have been used.  I have been taken advantage of and I have been loved.  I have met people I can call friends, and I have met people I never want to see again.  I have been in debt.  I have been in full time employment for a year.

When I worked for that year I worked on average between 20 and 40 hours a week.  Which averages out about 90 full 24 hour days.  On planes and in Airports alone I have spent 4 whole days.  On trains and in cars I have spent much more than that.  Taking into account those 94 days and the amount of time estimated travelling around I'd say I have spent at least a year total of my life traveling.  We are down to 6 now.

Thanks to some Googling I have also worked out that I have spent around 2 years eating, drinking and using the bathroom including getting washed.  So my life has really only been 4 years of actual life so far.

Still in 4 years I have achieved what I said above and also my High School Diploma, College Diploma and a Degree.  So have those 4 years been exciting?  For the most part I'd say yes.  It gives me enough to write a blog about so that's got to be something.  As for my future I do not know what it will hold but I need to achieve something more than what I have.
