Day 01: Your Favourite Movie

This post is part of a series of posts in The 30 Day Movie Challenge

I'm going to list two movies here.  Two, because for the first, my favourite movie, it could be argued that it's not actually a movie.  This is due to the fact that it's 9 hours long and had to be split up into 5 sections which were then packaged as a TV Mini-series.  This Movie is called The 10th Kingdom and was made by Warner Home Video and Hallmark.

I chose this Movie because it is one I watched when I was much younger and we all love fairytales this Movie did more than rekindle that love but expanded upon those stories in a way that didn't ruin their original beauty.

The alternative option is for those sticklers who insist I choose a 'real' Movie that can't be argued.  So for them my other choice is 十面埋伏 (Miàn Mái Fú) aka "House of Flying Daggers"

I chose this Movie as it was one of the first Movies I ever bought myself with my own money, the others being movies I watched on TV, Online or that friends or family had bought.  It was also one of the first non-English language audio Movies that I had ever watched and it was surprisingly not that hard to follow with subtitles.  I have watched this movie dozens of times and every time I fall in love with it.  It is for me first and foremost a love story, the martial arts aspects come second.  Having said that the Movie is visually stunning and there are various choreographed fight scenes that for a long time both inspired me to want to learn and taunted me in their mastery.
